Why is this flyover circular instead of being straight?

Why is this flyover in the picture has circular road (only increasing the length and cost) instead of straight road?

This is to reduce the inclination angle of the bridge. If you look closely there’s a railway track under the bridge and the minimum allowed vertical clearance for rail is 20 feet. So this is good engineered design.

Since the grading of the bridge is too high with the datum (ground) it is necessary to overcome it.. One of the best way is to increase the travel distance and reduce the gradient simultaneously, And the circulation path is always preferred as it distribute momentum equally over the wheels outer surface area giving it a smooth turn, in general centrifugal force so created is best neutralised in circular path.
